The Golden Grove High School Physical Education and Outdoor Education Department provides a broad range of learning experiences, with opportunities for our students to explore physical pursuits that are both appealing and appropriate to their age, gender and general skill levels.
Many have found the inspiration for a life-long pursuit of sport and recreation from direction and encouragement gained through curriculum units taught.
We fully recognise the need to promote the health and well-being of the young people in our care, requiring active participation in Physical Education classes up to Year 10 level. Motivation and ability levels can vary greatly, therefore an effective programme must ideally cater for the individual needs of each student.
The Physical Education curriculum across Years 8-10 introduces sports such as netball, touch, badminton, softball, hockey, athletics, cricket tennis, basketball, AFL, golf, archery, 10 pin bowling just to name a few.
In the senior years interested students have the opportunity to continue their involvement in SACE subjects that include Outdoor Education and Physical Education. The high number of students engaging in such subjects is impressive, indicating the success of the strategies and programs that are currently in place.
Golden Grove High offers several Special Interest Sport Programs such as Touch Football and Netball with a Year 10 Students With Athletic Potential Focus called SWAP where involvement is via invitation only.
Sports Day and the Aquatics Splash Carnival are held in Term 1 each year.
