Whole School P3

For the 100 Year Anniversary of the Gallipoli Landing, our  Campus held a combined Assembly on the Gleeson Oval on 7 May 2015, with over 3000 students and more than 300 staff to commemorate the event. Representatives from the Australian Defence Force once again offered their valued support by providing a Guest Speaker, WOD Michael Keefe, also a father to two of our students, as well as a Catafalque Party and Bugle player. Our proceedings were flanked by Cadets enrolled at the Campus schools, some of whom had a speaking part within the Assembly. Invited dignitaries were also in attendance.

The event was kicked off with a fly-past by an AP3 Orion at 10:50am.

In a performance of an original song by representative singers from each School on Campus, Campus students acknowledged the sacrifice of a local Golden Grove family who lost two sons in WW1 – the Harper Brothers – recognised locally (Harper's Field, Golden Grove) and in the Canberra War Memorial.

Channel 7 was interested in covering this event by helicopter, so many students and families would have seen our Commemorative Assembly on the news on 7 May.

As is usual at these events, our students were extremely respectful. This is a first, having the three schools come together for one Assembly, and a fitting event to have this occur. We are extremely appreciative of the support received from the Australian Defence Force for this event. The ADF go out of their way to support our schools where possible, due to the high amount of enrolments from Defence Families.
