The Golden Grove High School Health and Physical Education department provides a broad range of learning experiences, across a range of activities appropriate to age and gender. Health and Physical Education is compulsory for one semester in Years 8 – 10. Students have the opportunity to try a range of activities which allow them to meet the HPE Australian Curriculum Standards. The Year 8 – 10 curriculum introduces students to activities which could include netball, touch, badminton, volleyball, hockey, softball, cricket, athletics, tennis, basketball, AFL, archery to name a few.
We offer two specialist programs in Touch Football and Girls AFL (new in 2021 at Year 8 level) for students.
For those interested in pathways at Year 11 and 12, we offer SACE courses in Health, Physical Education and Sports Studies, where high achievement is a key focus. These courses are highly popular with students at GGHS.
Within the Health component of Years 8-10 Health & PE classes, students will also cover the compulsory ‘Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum’. For more information of this program, please see this Fact Sheet.
For further information on all years, please consult the Keeping Safe website.
