At Golden Grove High School, the Science learning area provides opportunities for students to develop an understanding of the important science concepts and processes, the practices used to develop scientific knowledge, of science’s contribution to our culture and society, and its application to our lives in the 21st Century.
In our classes, students are provided with opportunities to work collaboratively and explore science through an inquiry approach. We value creative and critical thinking and encourage students to communicate their findings to authentic problems. We want our students to experience the joy of scientific discovery and ignite their natural curiosity of truth and beauty in the world around them.
Our students have the opportunity to participate in challenging and rewarding extracurricular activities such as the Science & Engineering Challenge, Australian Brain Bee Challenge, National Youth Science Forum, Big Science Competition, Science Olympiads and the GGHS Science Investigation awards.
In the Senior School, we offer a diverse suite of science subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Physics and Psychology. These subjects provide the knowledge, understandings and skills to make informed decisions about local, national and global issues and to participate, if they so wish, in science related careers. A number of these subjects are pre requisites for STEM related university pathways.
