DiscoveryCentreScience2019

We believe that a strong curriculum, along with differentiated learning, is the key to seeing all students achieve success. The Discovery Centre delivers a curriculum that focuses on functional lifelong skills so that students can achieve during school and transition into a purposeful post-school life.

The curriculum delivered offers students engaging and innovative learning and reinforces prior learning and builds upon established skills to develop new learning opportunities. On top of the mandatory core subjects, students have the opportunity to select elective subjects that they are interested in and passionate about to enhance the learning experience.

Our students engage in a specialised program, Community Access, which allows students to learn within the community and progress their life skills in real life settings. Once a week students access a whole day within the community anywhere within the suburbs of Adelaide, practicing skills in time, money, communication, behaviour and safety.

Students undertake both a modified Australian Curriculum and Modified SACE. The following information provides an outline for both and a curriculum booklet that can be downloaded for further information on subject outlines and content.
